For the past year, schools within the Diocese of Paterson have been working collectively to earn accreditation status through AdvancED. AdvancED is the world's largest education community, serving more than 27,000 public and private schools across the United States and in 69 countries that educate 15 million students. The AdvancED Accreditation Process, a protocol embraced around the world, is a clear and comprehensive program of evaluation and external review. The process is supported by research based standards, and dedicated to helping schools, districts and education providers continuously improve.

The accreditation process is a joint venture involving pastors, educators, parents, students, and diocesan staff. For the past year, school leaders and diocesan staff have met on a monthly basis to analyze survey results and develop action plans to address each of the standards measured by AdvancED. These actions will be used to develop an overall plan to be submitted to the AdvancED accreditation team.

During the 2011-2012 school year, visitations will occur at each school in the Diocese of Paterson to assess the progress that has been made in relation to a particular standard. Visits will be conducted by diocesan principals as well as a team sent from AdvancED. The team will meet with parents, teachers, students, and staff in an effort to measure the specific progress in that school.

The diocesan steering committee would like to thank all of our stakeholders that have made the accreditation process such a valuable exercise for our schools. We look forward to continuous improvement in all of our educational institutions as we strive to provide the best possible academic and spiritual experience for our students.
